CLAIRE & SEAN – Glassallen, Co. Meath

Project Details

This was a 3,500sq ft two story private dwelling house at Glassallen, Collon, Co. meath. My brief was to create a Luxurious comfortable interior/exterior and landscaping design concept with contemporary elements throughout.

Description

This was one of the projects; Where I was retained to work on from start to finish. This was a beautiful elevated sloping South Facing site. Inspiration for the design came from the site itself; The house was designed using split levels externally and internally; to fit into the site as if it has always been there.

There are no two elevations the same in design of this house. The mixture of natural stone, limestone heads and sills, smooth plaster walls, natural slate together with a large roof light, gives this house a traditional style with a contemporary twist.

I believe that when you arrive to someone house for the first time; You must create a design statement and a lasting first impression. This ethos must be carried throughout the design concept and the choice of materials and finishes used. This consistency should ethically be pleasing to the eye; carrying you from the hallway through the house from one room to the next without a break in its flow; and at the same time each room has its own identify.

When you enter this hallway you immediately see the bespoke oak staircase to the first floor. All doors are contemporary shaker style with clear glass panel. All architrave and skirting of painted timber to high light and frame doors. Throughout the interior design concept of this house there are many contemporary features that have been particularly highlighted with colour. The floors have a beautiful large porcelain floor tile which is carried throughout and down to the kitchen, utility, back hallway and toilet.

In the kitchen there is a wonderful sense of open space with a large vaulted ceiling finish with four no. velux roof lights. The luxurious kitchen units, island and utility room are in the country style; finished in two selected colours. Selected bespoke stools were commissioned especially to fit in with the style, colour and concept of this show piece kitchen.

Up four steps to from the kitchen you have a featured West facing dining area; which again has a partial vaulted ceiling and open balcony from the first floor landing overlooking the dining area. This creates a real vocal point for those days entertaining. Selected oak flooring to match doors and painted architrave and skirting. There are a further two rooms off the hallway and dining room that are not finished yet! These will be included to this site soon, when complete.

At the back of the stairs on the first floor; There is a bridge overlooking the dining area and connecting the master bedroom, en suite and one of the guest bedrooms, en suite. The third bedroom is next to the main bathroom. All floors on this landing are finished with the same oak flooring. There is still some work to be completed to the interior of this house and it is hoped to start landscaping and planting this November. More images will appear on this site as we bring , this stunning home; to its ultimate conclusion.
